I never used to get excited until last Fall. All the pumpkin spice craze that finally got to me. But I ain’t mad about it. Last year, the autumn season for me was all about pumpkins, pumpkin spice flavored food, orange, and maroon (Sorry VT fans, I am still a UVA girl at heart, haha). However, this year, my approach was totally different. I obsessed over dark greens, luxurious fabrics, and candles. Over the last two months, I have collected some things that to me are quintessentially Fall! So I decided that what better way to get back into blogging than a run down of my Fall Favorites.
This Fall I have been obsessing over making my own Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Sorry Starbucks, you are not getting $5 from me, not today! I brew up a cup on my pour over coffee maker. Meanwhile, I throw about ¼ cup of milk in the microwave for a minute and I use my handy-dandy milk frother to foam the milk (it’s so good, I could eat it straight!). Finally, I sprinkle some pumpkin spice into my coffee and add some sweetener (my favorite is the Whole Earth Stevia), before pouring in my milk foam. And there you have yourself a pumpkin spice latte! It’s rich, spicy, sweet, all at the same time. It is so good, that sometimes I will make it in the evening.
What girl can have a PSL with out a pumpkin spice candle nearby? Not this one. This year, I decided to try out the Tuscany Candles. I got the premium marbled wax in the scent Pumpkin Spice and Pumpkin Apple. They give off a strong scent that you can even smell hours after you extinguish it. The scent itself is not too sweet with a good balance of spice, which is why I love it so much. Also, the marbled wax looks like crystalized sugar making it look oh so delicious.
Now to the FASHION! I don’t care what anyone says, this season is all about Forest Green, Dove Grey, and Caramel Brown. Hello to being #EXTRA in neutrals. I seriously don’t know where the obsession with forest green came from, because I never used to like the color. This season I really wanted to add it to my closet in the form of a Forest Green Wide Brim Fedora Hat. I finally found one I loved on Amazon Fashion. It pairs well with almost anything, like a pair of white jeans and a black leather jacket.
Another fashion item has been my Grey Chelsea Boots with a clear heel. I found these beauties while shopping at Gabe’s, which is a discount retailer. I love shopping at these stores, because you never know what kind treasures you will find. I found these boots for $7, and although they are a bit out there, they have become a Fall staple.
As far as makeup and skin care, I haven’t added too many new items to my rotation, but this is an area I want to focus more on in the future. An item I have been enjoying is the L’OREAL Pure-Clay Cleanser with 3 clays and charcoal. I should prefix this by saying that when I first bought it, I had thought it was a face mask and after covering my whole face with it, I started reading the directions…lesson learned, haha. It comes out in a whipped clay texture and foams up. It does a great job leaving my modernly dry skin soft and smooth.
The last few items are related to things I am listening or watching. My current favorite song is Put It to Bed by JHart. I love the mood this song sets, especially the beginning! I have also gotten into listening to Podcasts the last few months, and currently I am listening to Last Seen. It is a true-crime podcast on the most valuable art heist! It takes you through all the suspects and the FBI investigation, and is put together very well! Lastly a YouTuber I recommend you watching is Elle Florence. She is a lawyer by day, and a YouTuber, jewelry designer, and cat mom by night. She has a beautiful energy and I truly think you will enjoy her content.
I enjoyed putting together this blog post. I hope you enjoyed it too and maybe it gave you some ideas for some new Fall items. I may do another winter edit!
